How do I add an entry to the contest?

Simply add a new comic series to Tapas on your dashboard: Click here

When setting up your series, add “TapasxKickstarter_Daydreaming” to the Tag section. You do not need to add a hashtag or ‘#’ before these words. You can add or remove this tag anytime, simply edit your series page and locate the Tag section! Hit Enter to add the tag to your series.​​

Can we enter as a team?

Absolutely, friends who want to enter together (like a writer/artist team) are welcome to do so. Please decide ahead of time how to split up potential prizes, as we may send cash winnings to only one Paypal/Bank account.

I already have a Tapas Premium series, can I still participate?

Yes, this event is open to Premium creators as well!

Can I use an already existing series for this event?

If you have a series that fits the theme and submission length, you can submit it to the contest. Please note that we are looking for short stories, that means the story should be concluded within 10 pages, so the series should not be ongoing.

 

Can I post my submissions on other platforms?
During the contest and judging period, your submission should not be available on other platforms, and should be exclusively posted on Tapas. Once judging is concluded and winners are announced, you are free to post it wherever you like! Winners will be asked to keep their entry exclusive to Tapas for a 36 month period.

 

Can I submit more than one entry?

No, please only submit one entry.

 

Can I submit a novel instead of a comic?

This contest is for comic creators only. Please keep an eye out for future novel focused events!

 

Can I submit a comic in a scrolling format?
No, all submissions must be published in a page format to be considered. The winning entries will be published as a print book, and should be set up with print in mind.

The format is required to be 6" x 9", 300 dpi, but Tapas requires 940px width to upload - what should I do?

While creating your short comic, please create it in 6" x 9" at 300 dpi, which is print quality. If you win, your comic will be part of a print book at this size, so your files must match and be at the right quality. 
To upload on Tapas, you will have to export jpgs or pngs at a width of 740px.
If you are one of the winners, we will ask for your print files to be sent to us separately, so we can prepare the print book for the Kickstarter event.

When and how will you announce the winners?
Winners will be announced on October 2nd, 2025. We will contact the winners via the email address connected to their Tapas account. 

 

If I win, do I have to participate in the Kickstarter campaign?
Yes, to be eligible for the cash prize, you must agree to take part in the Kickstarter campaign that will follow the contest. If you’re selected as a potential winner but choose not to join the campaign, your win will be forfeited, and the prize will be awarded to the next eligible entry.

You will also be asked to sign agreements that allow us to bundle your winning entry with the other winning entries specifically for the Kickstarter campaign, so you can review the terms thoroughly before making any decisions.

If the Kickstarter campaign is successful, will I receive part of the revenue?
Yes! If the Kickstarter campaign is successful and generates revenue, the profits will be shared between you, the other winners, and Tapas. If the campaign does not reach its funding goal, no additional payments will be made to you beyond the cash prize you received for winning the contest.

Why is Tapas taking a share if the Kickstarter is successful?

Tapas charges a small fee to run the Kickstarter and takes a share of the profits to help cover the costs of running both the contest and the campaign. While this won't cover all our expenses, it allows us to offer creators a unique opportunity to earn extra cash and gain exposure. You'll have the chance to review all the terms before signing on, so you can make sure it's the right fit for you!

How do you select the winners and will the number of subscribers/views/likes have an influence on who wins?

The winners are chosen by a panel of judges made up of Tapas and Kickstarter staff members. As we want all entries to have an equal chance of winning, no matter if they were posted at the beginning or the end of the contest period, the number of subscribers, views or likes on the submission will not be considered. Instead, we are looking for the quality of artwork and storytelling.
